The major chunk from the team of Khakee - Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Tusshar Kapoor, Lara Dutta and producer Keshu Ramsay reunite in DMS Films' latest offering - Insan.
Story
Amjad (Akshay Kumar) is a Muslim auto-rickshaw driver who is in love with a Muslim girl Heena (Esha Deol). But Heena's parents (Archana Puran Singh and Sharat Saxena) do not approve Amjad's romantic overtures with their daughter for his impecunious status of being an ordinary and a simple auto rickshaw driver. (This adds to the comic side of the film).
Ajit Rathod (Ajay Devgan) is a CID officer who is dejected with the loss of his wife (Koena Mitra). A dreaded terrorist (Rahul Dev) whom he wanted to book had murdered her. Suffering his wife's loss with bruised heart, Ajit loses all his interest in life but wants to track down the terrorist to avenge his wife's death.
Amjad and Ajit meet for the first time in an ugly situation and fail to get along with each other in their initial meeting. But eventually they end up befriending each other as their mutual loathing for each other gives way to common sympathy and the hate turns to friendship. Amjad plays upon his life and helps Ajit to track down his wife's assailant and wins his heart.
While his manhunt for the terrorist was on, Ajit meets Meghna (Lara Dutta), a daring journalist, who too enters his life's arena and befriends him only to provide a second lease of life to his drooling heart and wounded soul. Even Amjad manages to convince his would be in-laws about his suitability and marries his love Heena.
The third angle of the story is of two strugglers of the film industry Avinash (Tusshar Kapoor) and Indu (Laila) who subsequently turn soul mates in the film.
Release Date
The film releases on January 14, 2005.
