Anubhav (Sanjay Suri), Antara (Shruti Seth) and Adi (Anoop Menon) are dedicated theatre actors who revere their guru (Jackie Shroff). But life outside their world of theatre is different. This realization dawns upon the three when they step out to make a living. Anubhav, in his struggle, ends up working in a television serial. His acting is not appreciated and he has, therefore, to resort to loud acting. He also realizes that the concern shown by his senior colleague (Sudha Chandran) is, in fact, lust. The actress makes a direct pass at him, inviting him over to her house for dinner. However, Anubhav escapes her clutches by taking along with him, his fan, Meera (Gul Panag), who openly exhibits her love and admiration for Anubhav in front of the actress. Anubhav and Meera get married against the wishes of Meera's rich parents, and, with that beings the newly-married couple's struggle.

Anubhav manages to get a rich man (Rakesh Bedi) to produce a film starring him with a newcomer. But his dreams are shattered when the rich man dies. The almost complete film is now in the cans and all his dreams of becoming a film actor are buried. To add to his woes, Meera, in the final stage of her pregnancy, runs into complications and the baby is born with a rare disease which requires a treatment costing Rs. 20 lakh. All this forces Anubhav to become a gigolo. And as he solicits his clients, he imagines them to be characters in a in a movie till he gets to a point when he cannot differentiate whether he is a gigolo, an actor or an ordinary man. Eventually, when he decides to give up being a gigolo, his mentor (Raj Zutshi) forces him to accept one last client who turns out to be his own wife. Eventually, all is well, when the wife gets to know the truth behind his decision to become a gigolo, and forgives him.
