"Now where does this movie come from? " - that's the first thought which comes to mind when you see the promo of the movie ' Yehi Hai Zindagi '. Starring Gracy Singh, who has the non-success of ' Wajahh ' behind her, Pravin Dabbas, whose 'The Perfect Husband' has been stuck in the cans for years now and Sahil Khan, whose career has been at a standstill after 'Style' and 'Excuse Me', 'Yehi Hai Zindagi...the other side of life' is produced by Gopal Kondawar and Manoj Khalatkar. With lyrics by Sanjay Churmure and Rajan Rane and music by Arvind Haldipur, YHZ is directed by Ajay Phansekar (who earlier directed Encounter – The Killing ).
Abhijeet gets into a Kishore Kumar mould with the title song ' Zindagi Yehi Hai Zindagi '. A song about various ways of looking at life and how it treats you the way you want it to treat you, it borrows from the Jatin Lalit school of music. A song composed for the youngsters, it is nothing spectacular and settles down to be just average.
' Ritu Nakshatron Ke Gahane ' is a semi-classical number by Alka Yagnik that may be pretty incomprehensive for a regular moviegoer. Lyrics are too classical based to be appreciated by an average person and hence make the number understandable for just a miniscule percentage of people hearing the album.
' Pairon Ko Pankh Lagage ' is another 'raga' based that follows next and is attributed to Kavita Krishnamurthy. The voice is definitely not hers and there is an apparent error on the album cover. Nevertheless, whoever is the singer, she does a neat job in this yet another lyrics heavy number and sings with ease. The number is repeated in the album and again attributed wrongly to Kavita Krishnamurthy!
Leslie Louis sings the English portions of the smooth love song ' Kaise Samjhaun ' where he has Sadhana Sargam to provide him company for the Hindi part of the track. Number is a good fusion of Western and Indian music and the transition between the two styles is seamless. The best number in the album so far; it is a good love song that is also special due to effective singing by Leslie and Sadhana.
Bhairavi Kumble croons the last track in the album - ' Titliya Titliya ', a stage cum item number that is as routine as it gets. A fast paced number with regular hip-hop beats and lyrics, it is again is about ' jaam, jalwa and husn ' that constitute 95% of the item songs today!
' Yehi Hai Zindagi ' doesn't have much to offer in terms of mainstream entertainment. There are a couple of tunes that aim at the Hindi movie audience but do not succeed much. Rest are of the kind that may not interest a regular Bollywood follower much. Add to it the zero publicity, lack of any buzz in the film fraternity and a non-happening starcast, and you know that the music won't even reach out to the market in a big way, let alone be appreciated or criticized by the audience!
