2 of 3 people found this review helpful Karan Johar's story has gravitas. Renzil D'Silva's narrative keeps you on the edge of the seat, for most of the time. Salim Suleiman's music score has a melodious feel. Hemant Chaturvedi's cinematography serenades both Delhi, where the Saif-Kareena romance blossoms and New York, where it cracks up. And the performances by almost all the lead characters are gritty...

2 of 2 people found this review helpful Karan's story is lame and he brings nothing new. Rensil D'Silva is also average. Music on the other hand does fit in well with the film. Hands up to Salim-Suleiman...

1 of 1 people found this review helpful "Kurbaan" is a well crafted thriller with its brilliant direction and visibly grand production values. It has its own worth seeing moments along with some superb thought provoking sequences relevant to the current scenario in the western countries...

1 of 1 people found this review helpful It's so refreshing, especially when you are expecting a Dharma Productions product to bank on a crisp, fresh view of the New York skyline...

Kurbaan works in most parts because the director keeps the cinematic coincidences and liberties to the minimum. And wherever you do sense a leap of faith it is not jarring. Secondly, despite knowing how the characters will react, Rensil manages to shock you with his scenes...

'Kurbaan' is an edge-of-the-seat thriller that will give you goose bumps.
Go for it for an awe-inspiring experience and to witness real-and-reel life couple...

0 of 1 people found this review helpful In his 2 hour 40 minutes long thriller, Rensil clearly demonstrates how wisdom becomes nonsense in the mouth of a fanatic. The antagonists here are not rabid mullahs but the suave intellectuals who are blinded by their hate for the infidels...

0 of 1 people found this review helpful Kurbaan deals with a very loaded subject -- terror, Islam, America and the rest of the world. Something that a bunch of filmmakers have attempted in recent times, and there's more to come. But this one is executed like a classy Hollywood thriller, with some great moments of suspense, high drama, blood, gore and skin...

What makes Kurbaan a must watch are superlative performances from the entire cast - right from the lead stars to those FBI characters played by foreigners...

3 of 4 people found this review helpful In a regular Hindi film, viewers are happy to suspend disbelief. But a film that deals with such serious, intricate issues cannot demand that comfort.Kurbaan is a disappointment.

0 of 1 people found this review helpful Kurbaan is convincing also for the remarkable acting by its three leads, who are a pleasure to watch. If Saif Ali Khan approaches his part with restraint and minimalist fuss, then Kareena Kapoor goes for a simmering, slow-burning performance that eventually punches you in the gut. Vivek Oberoi, despite the occasionally rickety accent, throws himself into the role and turns in a sincere, spontaneous delivery. As an ensemble, the trio turns Kurbaan into one of the best-acted pieces you've seen all year.

A line from the film very subtly mentions 'The word Jihad is mentioned in Quran only 31 times while other terms like Love and affection are mentioned more than 50 times'. Jihad is an outcome of selective thinking. Kurbaan is an outcome of sensitive filmmaking.

'Kurbaan' is way better than 'New York', but is more disappointing, because while that Yash Raj flick never had the potential of becoming a masterpiece, this one did.

A big applause for Karan Johar for making under his Dharma Productions, a film which is very unlike any previous film made under his prestigious banner and one which is not only extremely well made but also very topical.

Once you set out to make a commercial film on a subject as sensitive as terrorism, it's best to be careful. One ought to start on such a subject in the first place, because it matters and moves you rather than its scope for drama. Rensil D'Silva appears to have chartered the latter road.

The climax of the movie brings the struggle of Kareena and Vivek, against Saif. Will they be successful in their fight against Ehsaan? The movie sounds interesting and is very much different from the conventional Karan Johar movies.

The surprise package of the film is Vivek Oberoi who plays an important role. Besides Shukran allah and the title track, the music is just about fine.Kurbaan is strewn together very well, making it a one time watch for sure.

Kurbaan is worth the price of your ticket for the thrill it provides and for the performances and direction.
