Ayesha Takia, of course, is the leading lady of the enterprise. Seeing as the whole story revolves around her lapse of memory, Ayesha lends her Sehar tons of vivacity and vulnerability. Longevity in terms of screen time aside, Sehar is rather one-dimensional in her emotional reflexes. Even so, full marks to the spontaneous youngster for making the most adorable toon voices.

Overall, the hickory dockory of performances and storyline, makes Sunday an average time pass flick for this weekend. However, hard core movie buffs need to take chill pill to take digest the loopholes in this Missing Sunday.

Rohit Shetty’s Sunday offers a perfect mix of fun, spills and thrills. Irrfan in his act of a struggling actor is brilliant. His perfect timing with Arshad Warsi leaves you in splits. Although the first half leaves you a bit confused because it jumps from one scene to another too quickly, the second half more than makes up for it.

Sunday is also a lesson on why not to put TV actors in key scenes, because they overact and try to grab footage that can't be edited out. Why take great pains to establish the heroine's unusual profession if it is not going to come into use anywhere? Why put in an item number (Esha Deol), when the film is about to end and audiences are looking at their watches?

'Sunday' revolves around the bizarre events that surround a day in animation dubbing artist Sehar Thapar's (Takia) life, a day that is completely erased from her already weak memory. As the story moves on, we find out the mystery behind the day's events and meet the usual sidekick characters on the way.

The basic premise is not bad at all, and the writers manage to squeeze in a social message too. However, the ‘whodunit’ script can’t escape the usual suspects - the never-ending chase, the ill-placed songs, and the stretch-till-after-it-breaks rubber-band climax.

Being a solo release, Sunday could benefit from the Republic Day weekend. But save for Irrfan, the rest of the film fall short of expectations.

The only thing that came as a relief is the dialogues. Dialogues are well written ranging from mundane to tongue-in-cheek to witty to hilarious. Other technical aspects of the movie are a let down.

There is this one dialogue which Ajay Devgan keeps repeating: Mujhe choo, choo pasand nahi. If you like Choo choo Teri marzi!

Sunday is basically a murder mystery but kudos to the writers and the director for making it into a light entertainer. The comic situations in the movie prevent the movie from becoming a very serious one. All this may also remind you of a flick released two years ago, 36 China Town, which was also similar.
